As a Sports Chiropractor, Dr. Chuma’s mission is to provide excellent care to those who choose to experience their lives through movement. As the vehicle through which we experience our lives, movement is the foundation upon which we build our athletic abilities and create community around us. Whether that is in the practice of going out to play a round of golf with friends without a painful shoulder, getting out to run in the local 5K without aching knees, or training your strength in the interest of improving your long-term health and wellness. Dr. Chuma has extensive experience working with athletes of all ages and skill levels in order to help them bounce back from injury, and improve performance within their chosen sport/activity.
When working with Dr. Chuma, you will first complete an Initial Assessment so that we can get to the root cause of your pain. We will identify and discuss the injury and your various treatment options and then design a treatment plan that works for YOU. In that process, we complete treatments such as soft-tissue therapy, dry needling, chiropractic adjusting, and a rehab-based approach to sports injury. In this way, we will speed up the healing process of the involved tissue and strengthen it to prevent further injury.
Dr. Chuma studied Exercise Science at the University of Delaware for four years. During this time, he focused on enhancing performance through the use of strength and conditioning to promote athletic development and minimize the risk of injury. Throughout his graduate schooling, he worked as a Sports Performance Specialist to develop training programs for athletes from across the NHL, MLB, and MLS.
As a Doctor of Chiropractic, he specializes in working with athletes and active adults as well as those looking to become more active. Most notably, he has developed treatment and training plans for athletes from the NFL, NHL, and B.A.A Racing team. He has also spent time traveling to treat the athletes at the USATF Olympic Trials in both track & field and the marathon.
At https://www.surf-to-summit.com/ he provides excellent care and education to his community to aid in the continued shift towards early treatment intervention to help limit disability experienced due to sports-related injuries.
